July Happening’s

The months of June and July have been a whirlwind, to say the least. In June I turned 30, something I had been dreading since my early 20s, but over the past year have really come to embrace. My 20’s were filled with energy, a sense of youthful optimism, and my fair share of mistakes. I was married by 22, divorced by 26, and by 27 began to uncover and sift through early childhood trauma that came from growing up in an abusive and dysfunctional family environment. So… my second decade of life was quite the roller coaster ride, to say the least.

I’m happy to be closing out that chapter of life and stepping into this next decade with a greater sense of purpose, self-awareness, and grace for myself as I continue to grow and heal. My partner and I took an extended road trip up to Canada for two weeks to visit my sister and her sweet family. We passed through Oregon, Washington, Idaho, British Columbia, and Alberta, and took in some of the most stunning views of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Somewhere along the way during our travels, my partner and I both managed to pick up covid, and for the past week have been at home isolating and recovering. The forced time at home has allowed me to pick up writing again, and finally, try to finish this MK Studio site for launch! (If you’re reading this, it means I finally managed to push this past the last hurdle!)

I also wrapped up the last photoshoot for Houzz for 2022 this past week, and am very much looking forward to a slower Q3 and Q4 at work. Fingers crossed things calm down a bit because man, have they ever been busy. There is so much going on in the US at the moment, and it’s just wild to think that we’re all still expected to produce and work as hard as ever, in the midst of pandemic fatigue, mental health issues, an economic downturn, mass corporate layoffs, and a polarizing political climate, just to name a few. Nonetheless, I’m taking time to prioritize my well-being by turning off work notifications on my phone, spending time outside every day, and prepping some healthy meals to fuel me throughout the week. I hope you’re taking care of yourself these days. Get outside and find time to feel like a kid again. Sending you love.

x, Madi
