November Happening’s

This month has been a blur. I know everyone always says the holidays can be a rush, and it’s easy to get caught up in the business of it all, and I truly have been feeling that this month. I had a moment, on thanksgiving day in fact, where I had to stop and force myself to sit in silence for 10 minutes simply to bring my mind back down to earth. I listened to a beautiful guided meditation from one of my favorite teachers Sarah Blondin, who happens to be from my home province, British Columbia. I was reminded instantly of how important it is to slow down, find your center, and breathe from this space for a time. It was the exact reminder I needed to take minutes of pause, to reflect and soak it all in.

I just got back home yesterday from a week-long trip to New Orleans. My partner has family who lives there, so we went to spend Thanksgiving with his extended family. It’s my second time visiting this city and I love it more each time. The food—in and of itself—is reason enough to spend a week there. I experienced my first Crab Boil, had the best Gumbo I’ve possibly ever had in my life, and enjoyed so many incredible meals. This was all on top of thanksgiving dinner… so you know what kind of Sunday I’m having recouping at home.

Looking back on the past month, I want to take the reminder of taking moments of pause more often into the month ahead. I hope you find moments to slow down, find the present moment, and find your stillness in the midst of preparing for Christmas and the start of a new year.

x, Madi
